In addition to the four cadets that signed up to help the nutrition crew at the Senior Center, eight other cadets—excited and ready to perform for the seniors and veterans—came as well. To start off, cadet Romero-Pegeron and I performed an unarmed exhibition dual routine, incorporating military flair and other movements displaying sharpness, rhythm, and unity. Cadet Ankush De also performed an armed exhibition solo routine, featuring military precision and spinning an 8.5 lb M1903 Springfield Rifle Replica.
The same selected cadets also prepared several songs to sing for Veteran's day and the holiday season, including "My Country 'Tis of Thee", "America, the Beautiful", "The U.S. Air Force Song", and Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A". Cadets also sang "Let it Snow" and "Baby, It's Cold Outside". To wrap it up, cadets Bryant Payne and Ralph Costas performed
"Chameleon" by Maynard Ferguson.
Volunteering at the local senior center is undeniably a pleasurable experience. The smiles on the seniors' faces are a huge indication of how much our presence were appreciated. As we continue to honor the men and women who served and fought for our freedoms as well as those who are serving to preserve these freedoms, we would also like to thank them for their bravery and heroism.
Thank you to all veterans. Past, present, and future.
