Frequently Asked Questions
- What do we show up to CLC wearing?
- Cadets will be wearing PTUs at the arrival of the camp.
- What is a reporting statement?
- If you were requested (or ordered), your reporting statement is "Sir (or Ma'am), Trainee Jones reports as ordered." If it's you initiating the conversation, your reporting statement is "Sir (or Ma'am), Trainee Jones reports." Use the reporting statement only as your first words during a single conversation.
- Can I bring my phone to CLC?
- Yes you may bring your phone to CLC, but you must make sure that you put it in a ziploc bag with your name on it. You will give this bag to Major Taylor and he will hold onto it for the duration of the course. Electronic devices are not permitted at camp. It is recommended that you also put a charger in the ziploc bag as your battery may be drained out after one week of not charging your phone.
- Do we bring extra clothes for sleeping?
- You will take a shower before you sleep, and change into your PT clothes. Therefore, you will not need any extra clothes for sleeping.
- Who are CTOs?
- CTOs are Cadet Training Officers you will see them from the Rutgers University AFROTC detachment.
- Who/when do we salute?
- Cadets must salute all officers, cadet officers, and CTOs.
- Who are CTIs?
- CTIs are Cadet Training Instructors.
- Should I roll/fold my clothes prior to arriving at CLC?
- What are strings and how can I get rid of them from my uniform?
- Strings are loose threads that may be visible on your uniform when they lose connection with the desired threading pattern due to friction or any sharp objects. You may remove them simply by using a nail clipper or scissors
- What time do cadets wake up/go to sleep?
- Cadets wake up at 0430 and lights are out at 2100.
- How long do I have to change in and out of ABUs?
- You will generally have at least 3-4 minutes but the time span may change depending on the situation that may arise at the time. Therefore, it is best to practice wearing and removing your ABUs multiple times before going to CLC.
- If I am bringing a hydration pack, what should I do if it rips?
- It is good to keep a canteen as a backup if you are taking a hydration pack. It is almost impossible to completely fix and seal the hydration bladder of the hydration pack.

-White Socks
-Sunscreen (Bottle only, no sprays)
